New: Moving to BC Coast

Hello I am new to this site and using the computer. I live in Calgary an am thinking about moving to the coast. I really do not knoe anyone out there and do not know what the medical situation is like . I would like to meet a few person,s on line to ask questions about doctors ,housing, support groups etc. I do not go on line often because I am not much of a computer person and a very slow typer. Just saying hello today and trying to use this site. Joe pie

Hi Joe Pie,

Glad you found us. Vancouver and Victoria have many different supports as do several of the AIDS groups outside these two areas. Give me an idea where you want to move too and I can help put you in touch.

If you are moving to Vancouver Island the first place to check with would be one of the the three AIDS Groups in Victoria and they are:

Victoria AIDS Resource and Community Services

Hello, I am waiting for some medical tests later this month before comming out for a visit anto look around Victoria. My biggest concern is that I will not be able to find as wonderful health care as i get at the Calgary clinic. IO am concerned about finding a good doctor and if I am going to have to travle to Vancover on a regular basis to the clinic there to receive care. I would Like to meet other people when i am out ther in march to get to know yhe community and just to make contact with possible future friends so if i make the move i do not feel isolated. If i make th move i would like to buy , even though the prices out there are high. Rick thank you for your reply. My typing has errors but iam slowly getting better. I am more of a telephone person an perhaps as we talk more re email at some point we could exchange phone numbers . Iwould not have a problem giving you mine if you don,t mind talking on the phone. Calgary to Nanaimo - big change! I moved out here with my partner in September from Ontario. It is absolutely beautiful. If you are o.k. with small communities and the outdoors, its an ideal setting. If you're fond of the metro/cosmo appeal of Calgary, the island can feel a little isolating. I hope your move goes smoothly!

Thank you for the message. I think Nanaimo might be a bit small even thought i am not a down town kind of person i know Victoria a bit an like it alot.Iam a social sort of person but do not have alot of gay friends. I think a larger city would perhaps have more chances to meet people. I am going to ask a friend here how to perhaps meet others on line to make some contacts out there. I have alway's been some what hesitent to do the on line chat room thing. Perhaps it is time to try. Joe to islandsmile.
